To celebrate the end of another half term at Baytree a group of 31 girls and 6 Baytree staff and volunteers set off on an outing to the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill. The destination of our trip was decided by a vote which was organised by our newly elected student council. We all had a great time exploring the indoor space and gardens even though the weather was a little chilly! This trip gave a lot of the girls their first experiences meeting the Llamas and Chickens in the petting zoo, whilst other groups were able to see a huge array of exotic animals up close in the taxidermy room.
After lunch we split into groups and visited the exhibition called “African worlds” where some groups played a treasure hunt style game. This game encouraged the girls to engage further with the information and objects on display as they hunted for clues and ideas within the collection. Other groups were given cameras and asked to document their experiences to upload onto the Baytree flickr page as this is another good way of keeping them involved with the museums vast displays.
All in all everyone had a fun and informative time at the museum, and we hope to have more successful trips in over the summer!
