Baytree Heroines: Apithanie, volunteer

Baytree wouldn’t be here without the work our wonderful volunteers. Apithanie joined us three years ago, co-leading Spark, a weekly youth group focusing on development of young women’s leadership skills. As a life coach, Apithanie decided to volunteer at Baytree because the ethos spoke to her.

Having grown up in Hackney, the fact that Baytree supports and inspires inner city girls was something that meant a lot to her: “What I enjoy most about Baytree is hanging out with the girls,” she says. “They are funny, intelligent and full of surprises. There’s a great community here, there’s just a beautiful vibe and a lovely energy.”

One of the key virtues at Baytree is kindness. For Apathanie, that means compassion, acceptance and treating people as you would like to be treated.
