Big Christmas Give campaign 2022

BAYTREE is once again taking part in the Big Christmas Give,  the UK’s largest match funding campaign.   The campaign starts next Tuesday 29th November at 12 midday running through to midday on Tuesday 6th December 2022.  This year we aim to raise £25,000!   Every donation we receive will be doubled so we are garnering all the support we can to reach this target and raise £50,000 for the Centre.  The amount raised will go towards youth service delivery,  continuing to reduce the attainment gap by boosting our youth activities and academic mentoring programme.

We would be grateful if you can share the donation link so we can reach, or even exceed our target –   Baytree Centre – BIG GIVE

Support the education and development of life skills for girls and young women

Support our unique educational programmes, give girls and young women the opportunity to learn and develop the skills they need to succeed. The money raised will go towards enhancing our activities and academic mentoring programme and reducing the attainment gap.

The Situation

BAYTREE is located in one of the most deprived parts of Lambeth.  Many of the women and girls that come to the centre are living in neighbourhoods and environments where violent crime, drug use, anti-social behaviour and poverty have become a normalised part of their daily lives. Inadequate housing conditions, overcrowding and poor mental and physical health all contribute to a trauma that runs deeply into the community.  As a result, children and young people grow up with fear, and insecurities that hinder their ability to thrive and break the cycle of generational poverty.  The cost-of-living crisis has had a negative impact on most of our clients.  The rising costs of fuel, food and other essentials are pushing those already vulnerable and disadvantaged into further hardship.

The Solution

We offer a positive and uplifting environment, where women and girls are supported to overcome the barriers in their lives, change and make progress and more importantly break the cycle.  Each year we provide one to one mentoring for over 100 girls. In addition, our extracurricular activities and youth development programmes provide girls with the opportunity to grow in confidence, improve their educational attainment and increase their skills for life.
