Wednesday saw the latest of our popular half-termly family celebrations with the PEACH programme. Amani, a yoga instructor, came to volunteer, and mothers and daughters came together to learn the intricate ways of partner yoga. From an easy beginning involving breathing exercises and a bit of stretching we transitioned into complex moves such as the ‘lizard and rock’, which required a significant amount of balancing, determination (and laughter!). Once we’d explored what yoga was all about, we had a mother-daughter tea time. Families brought cakes and fruit to go with the usual tea and coffee. We sat around and chatted over some excellent baked goods, then migrated to the centre’s arts and crafts room. Here, families learned about the meaning behind decorating eggs at Easter time, and our mother-daughter groups joined together to decorate eggs in beautiful colours.
