This December, Baytree is excited to launch BrightHER Christmas, our 2025 Big Give campaign. We invite you to make a life-changing difference for girls in our Brixton-Lambeth community and beyond.
From 2nd-9th December, every donation you make will be doubled, giving girls aged 10–18 the opportunity to be paired with a dedicated mentor for weekly one-to-one support. These one-to-one relationships foster belonging, self-belief, and academic achievement. For many, it was the first time someone listened closely and without judgment.
One of the many girls whose life has been transformed is Aliya, a 16-year-old from Lambeth who came to Baytree unsure of her future. With her mentor Katty’s practical and emotional support, she’s now thriving in sixth form with newfound assurance and ambition. In their weekly sessions, Aliya learned to better express herself and started to seriously consider a future in acting or law.
“It helped me be confident in myself, and it also helped me with networking with the different jobs I was introduced to,” Aliya, mentee.
Mentoring at Baytree is not only life-changing for the girls; it also offers mentors a meaningful way to challenge inequity by supporting young people who go overlooked.
“Participating in the Baytree Centre’s mentoring programme has been a really rewarding experience which I’d absolutely recommend. It has been a privilege to play a small part in Aliya’s growth,” Katty, mentor.
