Exam and Revision Stress

As exam season approaches, it’s completely normal to feel the pressure building. For many young people, exams can feel overwhelming, and stress can affect sleep, confidence and overall wellbeing. But it’s important to remember that you are not alone — exam stress is something many students experience.

Exams can feel high stakes because they influence future opportunities and expectations. Pressure can also come from wanting to make your family proud, comparing yourself to others, or feeling like you have to meet a certain standard. Social media can add to this, making it seem like everyone else is coping perfectly, even if they’re not.

Stress itself isn’t always a bad thing. In small amounts, it can help you stay focused and motivated. The challenge is when stress becomes constant and starts to feel overwhelming. You might find yourself overthinking, procrastinating or struggling to concentrate. Everyone experiences exam stress differently, and there is no right or wrong way to feel.

3 Exam and Revision Stress

At the Baytree Centre, we understand how intense exam season can be, especially for girls balancing school, responsibilities and expectations. That’s why we create spaces where young women feel supported, heard and understood.

Introducing our 7-week programme: Breathe – It’s Just An Exam

Designed for girls in Year 10 and above, this programme helps young women manage exam pressure with confidence in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Over the seven weeks, participants will explore:

  • Stress management: Practical techniques to stay calm and focused
  • Study skills: Creating effective revision habits and routines
  • Confidence building: Developing resilience and self-belief
  • Future planning: Looking beyond exams and exploring opportunities

This programme is about more than just exams. It’s about helping young women build confidence and feel more in control during a challenging time.

If exam stress is starting to feel too much, support is available. Talking to others, learning new strategies and taking time to pause can make a real difference.

At Baytree, we believe every young woman deserves to feel capable, confident and supported. You are more than your grades, and you don’t have to face exam season alone.
