Going the Distance: Baytree at the Royal Parks Half Marathon

We’re delighted to share that this October 12th, 25 incredible runners from organisations including Astrid&Miyu,Passion Digital, PwC, APCO, Barclays, Grant Thornton, Virgin Media, Brockwell United, and Wonder Foundation will be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon in support of The Baytree Centre.

An Iconic London Race

The Royal Parks Half is no ordinary race. Since its launch in 2008, it has become one of London’s most iconic running events.

The 13.1-mile route threads through Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park, and Kensington Gardens, winding past many of the capital’s most famous landmarks.

What started as a conservation-focused fundraising event for London’s 5,000 acres of magical green space has expanded over the years to benefit a wide range of causes. To date, this unique event has raised more than £70 million for UK charities and Baytree is proud to be part of it again this year.

Why It Matters

‘I have chosen to run the half marathon for Baytree because I am lucky enough to see the incredible impact of their work everyday. I’ve learnt a lot about the challenges migrant parents face when trying to get their children into the school system and how overwhelming this can be with support. Knowing the difference Baytree makes for these families motivates me to take on this challenge.’

Poppy , 2025 Runner

Baytree supports over 1,000 newly arrived migrants, refugees, and underserved women in the Brixton-Lambeth community. We help them overcome barriers such as poor housing, limited literacy, and lack of access to education and employment opportunities.

Our programmes include:

  • Mentoring and coaching
  • Integration support
  • Language and numeracy classes
  • Leadership opportunities and creative expression

Through these programmes, members of our community build confidence, resilience, and mutually supportive relationships, empowering them to shape brighter futures.

Every step our runners take brings us closer to making those futures possible.

How You Can Be Part of the Journey

Even if you’re not running this year, there are many ways to get involved:

Your support makes a real difference. Every mile, every cheer, and every donation helps our community thrive.
