Join our Black History Month Celebration on Thursday 17th October from 1 to 4pm!
October is Black History Month in the UK and it’s been celebrated every year for nearly 40 years. In this month we recognise and learn about the amazing contributions that people of African and Caribbean backgrounds have made to help shape this country over many generations.
Through out October we are going to celebrate brilliant local leaders, heroines and women, including our own beneficiaries, volunteers and staff as well as local heroes such as Olive Morris, Mary Seacole, Dina Asher Smith, Maggie Aderin-Pocock, Malorie Blackman, Khadija Saye, Tessa Sanderson, Zadie Smith and many more.
On Thursday 17th we will be hosting a day of celebrations featuring a film screening, an exhibition of local heroines and heroes, a Q&A with inspirational women and delicious food. We invite you to join us on this day and bring a transnational dish to share.
