Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) refers to a set of criteria that evaluate a business’s impact on society and the environment, as well as how ethically, transparently, and responsibly it is managed. By caring for the environment, treating people fairly, and operating transparently, companies not only do the right thing but also attract investors, customers, and talent who value responsible, sustainable practices.
What is ESG?
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance, which are three key areas that measure a company’s impact on the world and guide responsible business practices. The Environmental aspect focuses on reducing a company’s footprint through sustainable actions that protect the planet. The Social aspect looks at how a business treats its people, communities, and customers, promoting fairness, inclusion, and positive relationships. The Governance aspect ensures transparency, ethical leadership, and accountability in decision-making. These three pillars drive long-term success, build trust, and reduce risk.
Focusing on ESG means a company cares about more than just making money, and in today’s world, being a responsible business isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s a smart business strategy. According to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), two-thirds of investors take ESG factors into account when investing in a company!

Stories from The Baytree Centre
“Baytree is like my second home.”
Many past pupils at The Baytree Centre enrolled in their programmes when they were young children and continued attending and receiving support from the centre into adulthood.
One pupil joined Baytree when she was 12 years old, she was shy and reserved having had little interaction with peers. Baytree’s Youth Programme allowed her to build up her confidence and learn critical life skills. She went on to join the Baytree Youth Council where she took on leadership roles and became a volunteer teaching Maths and Sewing classes. She discovered her passion for working with young children and pursued a qualification in early education.
Another participant who joined Baytree when she was six years old, shares that the centre supported her through every step of her education, from Primary School to GCSE’s to now graduating from university with a 2.1 in Childhood and Youth Studies. Baytree has recently supported her in securing a job as a Behavioural Support Worker.
It is no coincidence that past students at Baytree go on to work with children who are faced with the same challenges they did when they were young. Through our programmes, pupils have a supportive space to discover their passions, receive unwavering support in reaching their goals and pass on their knowledge to other women and children.
The Baytree Centre has created an ever-lasting chain of support, aiding in the improvement of women and children’s lives for generations to come. Supporting us means improving the lives of women and children now and for many years to come. It means investing in the women and children of today to secure brighter futures for the women and children of tomorrow.
