This October, Baytree marks Black History Month 2025 with the theme “Standing Firm in Power and Pride.” We are celebrating both the achievements of Black women and the spaces they create for the next generation to thrive.
We are proud to honour their contributions while empowering our girls to realise their own dreams.
How We’re Celebrating
On Tuesday 22 October, from 4pm to 7pm, girls aged 13+ are invited to an afternoon of interactive workshops led by three accomplished women across different fields:
- Shakyrah Lodge – Freelance Creative, Youth Facilitator and Consultant
- Yemi Paul – Global Head of Product Governance at HSBC
- Dr Jackie Mathew – Clinical Research Fellow, Department of Perinatal Imaging and Health at King’s College London
Unlike previous years’ panel discussions, this event offers an opportunity for hands-on learning. Girls can ask questions, try new activities, and explore careers that might once have felt out of reach. 
More Than Careers
The afternoon is about more than professional pathways, it is about representation and community. Seeing women who have navigated their own journeys shows that leadership and pride are developed step by step, through guidance, support, and the connections fostered in programmes like our mentorship programme.
Just as past trailblazers opened doors for today’s generation, these mentors inspire Baytree girls to discover their own capacity to shape the future.
Celebration and Community
The event will also feature food, a raffle, and a celebration of community. At Baytree, we believe empowerment grows not only through learning new skills but also through shared experiences and mutually supportive friendships.
