Meet Rosa, one of Baytree’s dedicated volunteers. Since joining us at the start of 2026, Rosa has been delivering our Life in the UK programme, supporting women through engaging and encouraging test preparation sessions that help participants build the knowledge and confidence needed to pass the Life in the UK Test.
Before retiring, Rosa worked as a Learning Support Assistant in a secondary school, primarily supporting students with English as an Additional Language. Having lived locally for many years, she often walked past Baytree and noticed the sign outside. What she didn’t realise at the time was just how much activity, energy, and support existed within its walls.
Rosa was drawn to Baytree’s mission of empowering women to overcome barriers and create opportunities for themselves. She was also inspired by the diversity of cultures, languages, and experiences represented within the Baytree community and knew it was something she wanted to be part of.
One of the things Rosa enjoys most about volunteering at Baytree is the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. When she first joined, she was amazed by the range of activities, workshops, and courses taking place within one small building.
Through her volunteering, Rosa has seen first-hand the sense of belonging that Baytree provides, not only for the women and girls who access our services, but also for the volunteers and staff who make up the wider community.
“I think volunteering at Baytree is both rewarding and enriching. You give your time and your energy, but you receive so much in return. It’s like travelling around the world and being able to experience other cultures and hear other women’s stories. It’s so special. It’s like being part of a big family.”

Their dedication helps make Baytree the welcoming and supportive place it is today, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.
