Welcome Winter!

With Halloween behind us and Christmas on the horizon, we’re looking forward to a Winter full with joy! Our women and girls excited to begin  education and employability activities that come with the new cold weather.

Black History Month

In October, girls across different clubs celebrated Black History by learning about black poets and writers and the history of Carnival, making Nigerian Suya and Jollof Rice, and visiting a photography and art exhibition featuring the work of black artists. Our Spark girls hosted a panel discussion with 5 inspirational and successful black women. They asked them about their life stories, career journeys, how they overcame any obstacles and advice and top tips for their futures.

Our partners over at Ecosystem Coldharbour launched ‘Emotional Emancipation Circles’. It aims to heal trauma caused from racism through the celebration of black experience while building a supportive community.

Women’s Service

It has been great to see the Women’s Service back in full action, on-site since September.  Our one-to-one Social Mobility Coaching has continued apace and there has been a flurry of activity across all five of our pillars – Education, Employment, Family, Finance and Well-being.

Our Career Support Network has been hugely successful in assisting women to move towards employment and enabling them to build a network with others in similar positions.

Volunteer Service

With the support and dedication of our amazing team of volunteers we have effectively navigated unforeseen challenges and disruption to provide continuous volunteer support across all services.
Whether online or in person, volunteers have been willing to step out of their comfort zone, take on new roles and go the extra mile.
The Autumn term has got off to an amazing start, with 31 new volunteers signing up and joining the team! We currently have 140 volunteers actively supporting club activities, mentoring and women’s services, we are grateful for their continued support!
Youth Service

Thanks to your generous donations during our Summer Give campaign week, the Youth Service was able to provide a fun packed programme of summer holiday programme and free lunches for 120 girls. Highlights included a two-day work experience boot camp at the inspirational head offices of jewellery brand Astrid and Miyu, a trip to Thorpe Park, horse riding at Ebony Horse Club, a spa and wellbeing day and an escape room. Half term marked another fun-packed week in our calendars. Our younger girls went trampolining at Wandsworth Flip Out whilst our older girls took part in an AI and robotics workshop as well as a Wellbeing Sleepover at Baytree with candle making, meditation and more.

The BIG Give!

As we approach the festive season, we are preparing for our annual fundraising event: The Big Give. This is a project whereby many charities come together to raise money and help give back to our causes.

Using our new and easy way to donate, you can now set up a regular monthly donation to Baytree!

With as little as £5 a month, you can help us to continue our vital work empowering women and girls in our community.
With a bigger donation of £19 a month, you can ensure a woman or girl receives twice-weekly English classes.
